We can't take bus trips right now but, thanks to the internet, we can explore the world from the comfort of our homes. Every Wednesday, we're presenting a series of links to cultural institutions in Chicago and beyond. Today we'll visit the
Museum of Broken Relationships.
The Museum of Broken Relationships is a physical and virtual public space created with the sole purpose of treasuring and sharing your heartbreak stories and symbolic possessions. It is a museum about you, about us, about the ways we love and lose. At its core, the Museum is an ever-growing collection of items, each a memento of a relationship past, accompanied by a personal, yet anonymous story of its contributor.
Explore the Museum's collections of heartbreaking objects, such as the
porcelain doll given to its contributor by her ex boyfriend's parents after a sudden breakup or
the postcard contributed by a 70-year-old woman given to her as a girl by a suitor who took his life when her parents would not allow them to marry.
